WatchdogTools.com WatchdogTools.com is devoted to creating and making available to the public, Software Tools that can be used to help make government more accountable. Currently this site is devoted to our first tool, crSearch. crSearch is a Check Register search utility that allows you to keep track of all checks written by a governmental body, and hence all of it's expenditures. Our goal is simple, to make it easy for government watchdogs to keep track of every dollar that our government(s) spend.
Breaking news!: Here is a great example of what a Check Register SHOULD look like. Kudos to Readington Township, NJ for doing such an excellent job of providing data in a really useful, user friendly format:

They use Edmunds software but their CFO found a way to create this excel spreadsheet which contains everything you'd want to know about the Township's Check Register.
Please help us pursue this goal. The easiest way you can help is by making an OPRA (Open Public Records Act) request for the check register you are interested in. Then share that data with us and we will format it to crSearch and make it available on the web to anyone who is interested.
You could also donate money to the cause. Ideally, we'd like to be able to afford the same software that governments use to keep track of their records. It makes it easier for us to request data if we know how it is kept, and how it may be exported.
